Kitting Remanufactured Components

In the world of product packaging and assembly, kitting takes separate but related items and packages them together under a single part number. This is especially helpful when items are to be used in conjunction with one another. One example might include various types and sizes of filters from several vendors packaged together in a kit for routine maintenance. Additionally, a remanufacturing operation can utilize a kitting warehouse to make the ordering process easier and more efficient.

Preventative Maintenance Kits

A maintenance kit is a set of replacement parts needed to ensure the operational integrity and longevity of costly equipment. Each piece of equipment has preset maintenance intervals, which occurs after a certain amount of time, use, or mileage has occurred. These maintenance intervals are useful in ensuring that the maintenance kits are installed in a timely manner, and, thus, downtime caused by mechanical failure is minimized. Businesses may order maintenance kits for their own equipment in regularly scheduled intervals to save both time and money.

Remanufacture Kits

In the remanufacturing industry, parts remanufactured to the specifications of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) utilize a combination of both remanufactured and new parts. These newly remanufactured components can be conveniently packaged together in a remanufactured kit customized to a client’s needs. For example, a manufacturer may remanufacture turbos for an OEM.  The remanufactured turbos would then be kitted with any other appropriate components with specific branding per the customer and distributed to parts distribution centers (PDC), dealers, or end users per the order fulfillment request.
