NewStream employee-owners took gold at a the 2024 MiniGame™ competition recently at SRC Holdings in Springfield, Missouri as part of the annual SRC Owners’ Cup. NewStream came out on top out of all SRC subsidiaries and joint ventures.
A MiniGame™, according to the Great Game of Business, is an engaging, short-term activity designed to pursue an opportunity or correct a weakness within a company. MiniGames™ have a theme and are meant to be fun and engaging. Like other games, they should have a goal, a defined time frame, a scoreboard, and a prize.
Members of the NewStream ownership culture committee (OCC), a group of volunteer employee-owners dedicated to creating “a business of businesspeople who truly think, act, and feel like owners,” was tasked this year with re-educating themselves and their fellow 250+ associates on the impact of MiniGames™ and how to run them across the campus.
Each SRC company and joint venture came to the competition with their best MiniGames™, all vying for the top prize and coveted SRC Owners’ Cup points.
NewStream’s winning MiniGame™ presentation was a collaboration with representatives from the single parts packaging (SPP) department, namely Annessa Morelock and Tammie Cortezz, and the NewStream OCC. The SPP Team played a 6-week minigame called “Clocking In To Take Off” based around clocking in and out of production for accurate invoicing, throughput, and transparency to the customer.
The game brought in additional training for the team, technology within the warehouse, and updated processes across departments to meet efficiency goals. Ultimately, the team hit all three levels and received all three of their prizes: A “moonbeam” keychain light, custom t-shirts, and Dippin Dots (the ice cream of the future) + a taco bar (because even astronauts like tacos).
Congrats to NewStream and the SPP team for creating and executing on an amazing MiniGame™!
